The date of June 14 marks the anniversary of the U.S. Army's founding in 1775.

The U.S. Army celebrates its founding on June 14. Formed in 1775, the U.S. Army's roots go back to the old Continental Army which was formed to fight against the British in the American Revolutionary War. The U.S. Army's largest basic training facility is found in Columbia, SC. Fort Jackson alone accounts for the training of around 50% of all new recruits entering each year!
